IMPORTANT REDWOOD SENIOR CLASS NEWS

2026 Graduation Ceremony

The graduation ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM No tickets are required, and there are no limits on the guests attending.

  • While there is no 'saving' or reserving seats, there are plenty of seats, and there is no bad seat/view.
  • We also have plenty of accessible parking for those in need, and it will be clearly marked and near the walkways for easy access. No need to contact us for special arrangements as the seats will be clearly marked for accessibility.
  • Come early to park or use ride share as traffic gets heavy in the area!
  • Please respect our neighbors and do not block driveways.
  • We love to cheer for our graduates - please, NO confetti cannons. They are very difficult to clean up and not good for our environment.
  • Bring plenty of water, sunblock, and remember to put your umbrella/shades down once the ceremony starts.
  • We have a photographer who takes shots of the graduates as they arrive in the amphitheater and as they shake hands to receive their diplomas.
  • The graduation is live streamed and recorded on video, and we will post the links on our website.

ROOTS DOWN CELEBRATION for PARENTS AND STUDENTS
PLEASE SAVE THE DATE FOR ROOTS DOWN 6/1/26 7-9 pm!

Roots Down 2026 Monday, June 1, 2026, from 7 - 9 pm (check-in begins at 6:30 pm) for Roots Down 2026, a special pre-graduation event, proudly sponsored by the Redwood High School Foundation, to honor all members of the Class of 2026. RD26 will take place in the gym at Redwood, and all seniors and their parents/ caregivers or special adults are invited and encouraged to attend.

We are so proud of our graduating seniors who have grown deep and enduring roots during their time at Redwood. Now let’s all come together in celebration as they prepare to spread their branches upon graduation! We look forward to seeing you there!

More detailed information about this event will be forthcoming in the weeks ahead. Congratulations to the students and families of the class of 2026 from your Redwood Foundation!

SENIOR IN GOOD STANDING

The Senior in Good Standing policy is a district policy, originally designed by parents, teachers, and administrators.  This policy holds seniors to academic and behavioral expectations commensurate with Redwood’s high standards.  All seniors, as a result of continuing to conduct themselves with dignity during their final semester, will be honored accordingly at the graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 11, 2026.Additionally, Senior in Good Standing is an expectation that is monitored all year long.  Seniors who fall out of good standing as a result of either attendance or academic considerations may be disallowed from participating in school-sponsored student activities, such as prom.

The graduation ceremony recognizes seniors who have completed the required course of study.  The Tamalpais Union High School District School Board also recognizes the need for school sites to maintain high standards of student conduct and behavior, and therefore, supports the practice of providing the traditional graduation ceremony for seniors in good standing.

Participation in the graduation ceremony is voluntary and considered a privilege earned by being a Senior in Good Standing.   Seniors in Good Standing must adhere to the following to be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony:

  • Meet TUHSD graduation requirements
  • Pass ALL classes second semester, earning no grades of F, NM, NC or Incomplete in any class
  • Attend classes.  Have no more than five unexcused absences in any class (including SMART period)
  • Behave appropriately (respect of others, parking, sportsmanship, etc.) and not be suspended during the second semester
  • Pay all outstanding bills
  • No participation in “Senior Assassin” or “Scav” games that encourage dangerous behavior in the community

Students aged 18 or older who write their own excuses for absences due to illness or medical appointments will be required to provide a written excuse from a doctor or nurse for each absence.  We recommend parents check Synergy if attendance is a concern. Redwood maintains the right to communicate with the parents of 18 year olds regarding academic, behavior or attendance issues.

Seniors who attend Redwood for a reduced day due to work (an average of 12 hours per week) or taking an online or college class must notify their counselor immediately if the class is dropped or they are no longer working.  They will then be required to add a class for the minimum six-period day required by the District.  Failure to provide such notification is considered a violation of this policy and could impact one’s ability to participate in the graduation ceremony.  Any student enrolled in a class outside of Redwood, which is required for graduation, must provide official verification to their counselor that the course has been completed by Friday, May 27th, to guarantee their participation in the graduation ceremony.

Appeal Process:  Any senior who violates the Senior in Good Standing policy has the option to appeal to their Assistant Principal in writing at least ten days before the date of graduation.  Depending on the nature of the violation, students will be required to meet with their Assistant Principal or an appeal committee. Please see your assistant principal if you have any questions.

PTSA's  Safe & Sober Grad Night

Graduation Rehearsal: There will be only ONE graduation practice on Wednesday, June 10th, at 11:15 a.m. in the amphitheater.  Seniors must be prompt and attend the entire practice in order to participate in the ceremony.  If the practice goes well, seniors will be dismissed around 1:15 PM  Students who are performing at graduation should plan to stay longer for sound checks.

Graduation Participation: If you are NOT planning to participate in graduation, please contact Simone Davis sdavis@tamdistrict.org by June 1st, so arrangements can be made to pick up your diploma.

Appropriate Dress for Graduation: Any senior participating in the ceremony must wear a cap and gown. All students are to be dressed in appropriate, comfortable, but nice clothing.  Girls should wear flat or low-heeled shoes or sandals since they will be walking through a steep, soft, grassy area.

Diplomas: Empty diploma jackets will be handed out during the ceremony.  Actual diplomas may be picked up outside the small gym immediately following the graduation ceremony.

Graduation Parking: There are no tickets or limits on the number of guests that may attend graduation, so a large crowd is anticipated.  Parking and traffic congestion are problems, so we suggest carpooling or ridesharing and arriving early.  Central Marin Police and volunteers will be directing traffic.  Marked disabled parking is located in both the east and west parking lots.

Seating for Family Members with Mobility Issues: If you have a family member with mobility issues and would like to ask questions about the best path of travel to the amphitheater, please email Ms. Serrano (gserrano@tamdistrict.org)

First Aid: During graduation, a first aid station will be located near the main building.

PTSA Safe & Sober Grad Night 2026: Redwood’s Safe & Sober Grade Night is for ALL Seniors! This event is for our seniors to celebrate and gather one last time as a class.
